BYLAWS OF THE TUSCALOOSA GUN CLUB
Name - The name of the organization shall be The Tuscaloosa Gun Club
Objectives:
A. To maintain a safe modern shooting facility for club members and guests.
B. To promote the shooting sports of the United States of America by training club members and conducting competitions approved and registered by the National Rifle Association and the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
C. Plan and organize a junior shooting program for the youth in our community within (3) years of the club organization.
Officers:
President - Elected by the membership for a bi-annual term he shall be responsible for the overall management of the club. Subject to the by-laws and rules set forth by the executive committee.
Vice-President - Elected by club membership for a bi-annual term. A member of the executive committee. Serves as president in the absence of the club president.
Secretary / Treasurer - Elected by the membership for a bi-annual term. A member of the executive committee. Records all business transactions and club meetings. He or she shall maintain a bank account in the name of the club and will make all deposits, payments, and withdrawals as required. The executive committee shall audit the Secretary / Treasurer’s activities.
At-Large-Member - Club member appointed by the president and a member of the executive committee.
Executive Committee - Shall consist of all elected officers and one at-large member appointed by the president.
Dues - Annual dues will be set by the executive committee. Dues for charter members will be $50.00 per year and $100.00 per year for second generation members.
Legacy Members - Descendants of both Charter Members and Regular Members may become Legacy Members by simply paying Annual Dues of $50. These members do not have voting rights nor may they bring guest. However, these members may become full voting members with the privilege of bringing guest after paying a Membership Fee of only $125.
Honorary Members – The Executive Committee may at their discretion bestow an Honorary Membership to deserving friends of the club. These members are felt to have contributed more to the club through their generosity and their initiation is received as a benefit of their unselfish action. Their annual dues would be set by the Secretary / Treasurer to help reflect their gifts to the club.
Law Enforcement Members - Commissioned Law Enforcement Officers will be welcome to utilize our Ranges for $50 a year, there will be no membership initiation fee for those participating in this program, however, there are no customary membership privileges such as voting or bringing a guest.
Annual Meeting - The president will call a meeting annually to be normally held at the range. The order of business shall consist of the reading of minutes from previous meetings of the executive committee. Reports of all officers shall be read. Old business and new business followed by election of officers on a bi-annual basis.
Additional duties of the executive committee:
A. Appoint a Chief Range Safety Officer.
B. Post all range safety rules visible to all shooters and guests.
C. Provide a registration log for all members to record shooting activity. Members must log in on each visit.
D. Provide keys or lock combination to all members.
E. Responsible for making rules governing conduct on the range and provide a copy of rules to all members.
These by-laws approved and accepted by charter members present at Tuscaloosa, Alabama on August 9, 2004, and as amended June 6, 2009.
